SJB suspends Diana’s party membership

Sri Lanka’s main opposition, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, has decided to suspend the party membership of its National List MP Mrs. Diana Gamage, who voted in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

In a letter forwarded, Opposition Leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa stated that MP Diana Gamage has been removed from the party for voting in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, despite the party’s decision to vote against it.

Opposition Leader Sajith states that he cancelled Diana Gamage’s party membership with the powers vested in him by the SJB’s constitution, as the Chairman of the party.
