The level of Sri lanka’s air pollution dropped steeply by today, says the National Building Research Organization.

Senior National Building Research Organization scientist Mr. Sarath Premasiri cites a reduced number of vehicles on the roads following the re imposition of the quarantine curfew and the rainy and windy weather as the reasons for this air quality improvement.

Air pollution and the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere have dropped considerably as a result of decreased industrial and other human activity.

A team of United States researchers has said the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by vehicles dropped by half when compared to last year.
