COVID-19 cases in Sri lanka exceed 9000

COVID-19 cases in Sri lanka exceed 9000

The total number of Coronavirus(COVID-19) infections confirmed in the country topped the 9000 mark, as 211 more persons linked to the Peliyagoda – Minuwangoda cluster were tested positive for the Coronavirus(COVID-19) this evening.

The Department of Government Information said 9 of these fresh cases were detected from quarantine centres.

The remaining 202 are reportedly close contacts of previously identified Coronavirus(COVID-19) positive cases. The Department noted that 140 of these close contacts were found from quarantine curfew imposed areas.

Thereby, the total number of infections registered by the cluster to date reached 5607.

With the new development Sri lanka has now confirmed 9081 novel Coronavirus(COVID-19) infections to date.

According to statistics 4075 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the Coronavirus(COVID-19).
