UK PM Boris Johnson forces Manchester into tougher lockdown

United Kingodm’s Prime minister Mr. Boris Johnson is forcing Greater Manchester into the United Kingdom’s tightest Coronavirus(COVID-19) restrictions after the government failed to reach agreement with local leaders.

He said the region will go into the top tier of restrictions from tomorrow night, forcing pubs and bars to close unless they serve meals and banning households from seeing each other.

Greater Manchester has a population of 2.8 million people and is one of the country’s economic powerhouses.

The government will give the region 22 million pounds, as well as an unspecified amount of extra funding.

A further 241 people who tested positive the virus died in hospitals across the United Kingdom, with 21,331 new cases reported. That brings the total number of confirmed deaths nationwide to 43,967 and over 762,000 cases.
