Makandure Madush killed in Maligawatte shootout

It was revealed that Samarasinghe Arachchilage Madhush Lakshitha alias “Makandure Madush” who was killed in a shootout earlier today (20) was taken to a place where narcotics belonging to Kanjipani Imran who is currently in remand custody, was stored.

After uncovering information regarding a stock of 22 kg of heroin hidden at the Maligawatte Housing Complex, officers of the Colombo Crimes Division had visited that location along with Makandure Madush.

However, suspected underworld figures and drug traffickers had then reportedly opened fire at them.

Makandure Madush and two officers of the Colombo Crimes Division were shot in the crossfire that ensued.

Madush had later succumbed to injuries.

Later, on the 10th floor of the housing complex, 22 kilograms of heroin was recovered by the police.
In addition, a motorcycle used by the shooters was also found abandoned near the housing complex premises.

Meanwhile two Police Constables attacked to the Colombo Crimes Division have also been injured in the shootout.
