Zoological gardens to be closed

Considering the ongoing Coronavirus(COVID-19) outbreak in the country all zoological gardens are directed to remain closed until further notice.

Minister D.B. Ratnayake says however, national parks remain accessible to the public under health guidelines.

The State Minister of Wildlife Conservation Protection Programmes including Electric Fence and Ditch Construction and Re Forestation and Wildlife Resources Development, Mr. Wimalaweera Dissanayake, stated that he instructed the Director General was instructed on the decision. Accordingly, this measure will be in effect from today (17).

In addition, steps have been taken to limit the entrance to national parks, as well.

” If COVID-19 is spreading in your community, stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue.
